Last year I had such an overwhelming response to my Thanksgiving blog, I thought I would run in again with a few updates. For me, Thanksgiving has always been a time to sit back with family and close friends and remind ourselves of all the things we are thankful for.
Here are a few things on my list:
Days Spent with my daughter
We still enjoy our morning coffees together, the two of us sitting in the family room chatting about our lives, both the good and the challenging. Only now we include discussions about the markets, financial trends and upcoming meetings. The fact she has joined the firm lets me spend full days with her which has deepened our bond even further. For her and our relationship I am truly thankful.
A hug from my son
My beautiful baby boy has grown into a strapping young man. However, communicating with his mother is not at the top of his priority list. However, he has started to randomly come up to me and give me a solid, long, loving hug. He doesn’t say anything, but I know this is his way of telling me he loves and appreciates me. I am thankful for him in so many ways.
My yoga practice
I have worked out for more than half my life; it was only a couple of years ago I started practicing yoga. I love the meditative movement, I shut-off the noise in my head and only focus on myself, both mentally and physically. Nothing changed here.
The cottage
I am so grateful to be able to head north on the weekends and spend quality time with family and friends. Many of you know we have been renovating our happy place for the last couple of years, it is finally down to the last few details. I am looking forward to getting back to just ‘cottaging’ whether it’s snuggling up to watch a movie, reading my book, doing yoga on the dock, sitting by the campfire or walking the dogs; I love my happy place.
My work
I often say I am one of the lucky people in this world as I truly love what I do. I am so grateful I can help support my family by doing something I thoroughly enjoy.
Finally, many thanks to all of you that have accepted Paige into the fold, she surprises me every day with her dedication and growing knowledge. As my father once said to me, she’s “a chip off the old block.”
Now it is your turn, what are you grateful for?
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
